Teaching Math: The STEM Way

I'm so excited to be presenting for the first time at the National Singapore Math Conference on July 16.  this will be flipped session where participants were asked to view a video of background information and then will come to the session prepared to extend the information provided in the video and to put the new learning to work while redesigning existing math lessons.

As I was reviewing the video the other day, I realized that maybe everyone could gain a little something from it.  So here it is!  Let me know what you think or if you have any questions!'

MIT Keynote

I had the privilege of being on a panel for a keynote at MIT last summer.  Read all about it and watch the video!

STEM and Test Scores

There are several challenges to STEM work in elementary schools.  One challenge for teachers is the pressure to provide authentic experiences for students while keeping standardized test scores high.  The pressure to produce increased test scores can also be an obstacle to administrator support of STEM.  I have some ideas about how to solve this dilemma.  Check out my article in SEEN Magazine from November 2012.
